Relationships Selling| Article #125 :RELATIONSHIP SELLING – PART 12

In this installment of relationship selling, we're going to focus on the last of the four types of recruiting personalities, the leader.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear. There aren't a lot of these in the world. Leaders are not made, they are born. There has to be something inside of somebody to make them a leader. All the training in the world, all the knowledge, all the experience, does not make a leader. A leader is somebody who takes all that training, all that knowledge and all that experience, and turns it into something very special, or something very deadly.

Not all leaders are good people. Take a look at history. We have had some brutal leaders over the course of time. Most leaders have a certain kind of charisma that makes them impossible not to follow. Hitler had this as well as many others. So please understand, we are not suggesting that just because somebody is a leader, it is somebody you absolutely want in your organization. You want to make sure their character is one that you can live with. This is where you have to ask a lot of questions and listen very carefully to the answers.

The simple definition of a leader, as far as Internet marketing goes, is somebody who has a high awareness and a high level of performance. In other words, they know all the ins and outs of Internet marketing but instead of sitting on their backsides like the critic, they take what they know and do something with it. Leaders usually look for competitors. These are people who are high performers but don't know a lot, so they are easy to influence. Put two leaders in a room together and the mix can be disastrous, or it can be a great union. Again, this is where personalities come into play.

If you are a leader yourself and manage to get a leader into your organization, you want to do all that you can to see that the two of you can coexist together. You're not going to agree on everything, but if you can agree on the important things, you'll be okay. The important thing is this. Don't try to persuade him or her to your way of thinking. They have their own way of marketing. Trust that their way will bring you the results that you want. Believe it or not, there is more than one way to be successful.

Not to put a damper on things, but if you're out there recruiting for a program, and you're targeting people who are not having a lot of success, then more likely than not, you're not going to find many leaders, if any at all. To find a leader, you have to take your program, and it would have to be your own, and go out looking for a joint venture. You're going to have to make the offer very attractive to get the leader to go along. If you can do this, you may have just cemented the most important relationship you have ever gotten in regard to Internet marketing.
