Beat Your Competition| Article #134 :5 WAYS TO KILL YOUR COMPETITION – PT 2

Most of your competition will be primarily involved with selling their product and that’s about it. When you get to their sales page, you will find that their focus is on making the sale, period. Here is where you can actually get a jump on them and do something out of the ordinary. Of course you’re going to try to make the sale, but don’t focus on it. Don’t make it the main point of your sales page.

Okay, you’re probably thinking that I have flipped my nut. Isn’t the sales page primarily FOR making the sale? I mean what else do we want to do with our sales page besides get somebody to buy our product?

Well, ultimately that’s what we want to happen. But you know the old saying. There are more than ten ways to skin a cat. Or something like that. Anyway, the point is, if you look at just about every sales page that’s out there, you will see the same tired format. Yes, it works. But there’s no real originality to them. It’s like they’ve all been carved out of the same mold. And I’m not just talking about the look of the page, because in that respect, there are some differences. No, I’m talking about the content of the page itself. Each one is the same, from the header right down to the final PPS.

So why not do something totally different?

Like what you ask?

How about starting your sales page off with a form to enter a contest? That’s right, a contest. Dig into your pot of gold on your hard drive and come up with some really cool product to give away. If you don’t have something, buy something. Trust me on this.

Have the contest run for the first 30 days of the sales page being online. At the end of the 30 days, announce the winner. You don’t think this is going to cause quite a stir? They’ll be talking about this all over the Internet.

Of course, in the meantime, all the people who enter the contest have to sign up to your list. Well, of course you’re going to make that a requirement. I mean how else are they going to get their prize if you don’t get their email address? Now, not only do you have a chance to sell them the product that you originally trying to sell, but you also have them on your mailing list so that you can sell them other products you have down the road.

In the meantime, your competition is scratching their collective heads wondering what the heck is going on. All over the Internet is this buzz about you and your contest, right on your sales page. You don’t even make a big pitch to sell your product. Oh sure, it’s mentioned casually in passing, but you don’t make a big deal about it. Don’t be surprised if you even make some sales at the same time you’re offering the contest.

Admit it, you don’t see many people doing this. They’re so conditioned to think of getting the sale that they don’t think of doing off the way things like this. Well, now that I’ve given you the idea, when you come up with your next product idea, give it a shot.

You just may be surprised by the results.
