Beat Your Competition| Article #136 :5 WAYS TO KILL YOUR COMPETITION – PT 4

The next way to get your competition wondering about what you’re up to is to send them your product for review and ask them if they’d give you a testimonial.

Now think about what I just said.

You’ve contacted everybody you can think of who sells a similar product. This is the enemy. You’ve now taken your product, your bread and butter, and sent it to them for their approval and testimonial.

Have I totally lost my mind?

No, I haven’t. And if you read on, you’ll see how not so crazy I am.

For starters, you’re going to send them your product, at least not the product that you’re going to be selling in the next few days. See, if you are promoting your own creation, you know that you have to constantly improve it. Things on the Internet change constantly and if your product remains stagnant, you don’t have a snowball’s chance of making it in this business for the long haul. So the product that you sell them is going to be the one that is going out the door.

Except that they won’t know that. So tell them that you really want their honest opinion about your product. If you send them a really nice email and even offer them some incentive to review your product, they just might surprise you. Remember, they don’t have any idea what you’re up to.

Now, when you get their feedback returned to you, they may actually make some comments about the package. They may even tell you what they don’t like about it. Why? Because you’re the competition and they’re going to try to discourage you by making you think that you’re product is inferior. Of course in order to do this, they have to at least try to make some sense. And in so doing, they will actually give you some additional ideas for your new package, which is already done. With the main package being finished, adding the ideas that were given to you by your competition will really put your package over the top.

Sneaky? Yes. Will it work? Well, you have to hope for a few things to fall into place, not the least of which is even hoping that the people you send your package to even get back to you.

I actually did this. I sent my package out to a big name marketer just before I made my last update. I asked for his opinion and he gave it to me.

This is what he said.

“Overall, it’s a solid package. It’s nothing revolutionary, but for the price point, it’s hard to beat.”

Do you realize what ammunition he gave me with his reply?

For starters, he made me aware that the price of my package is actually under priced. This gives me two options. I can either keep the price as it is, knowing that for the money you can’t beat it, or I can increase the price knowing that I can probably still sell many of these even at an increased price.

The other thing he made me realize is that I have to come up with some twists for my package if I want it to be something that’s really different.

Those two little sentences he wrote to me gave me more information than you can ever imagination.

Try this technique just before you do your next product update.

You may just be surprised at the results.
