Beat Your Competition| Article #137 :5 WAYS TO KILL YOUR COMPETITION – PT 5
This next tip on killing your competition is one that you are going to love. I have to admit, I did not think of this. The idea was given to me from the one and only Rich Jerk. Now, he’s not exactly my favorite guy with all this swearing and stuff, but I have to give the man credit. He knows how to market. The man is an absolute genius when it comes to this stuff.
So what exactly was it that he did that was so amazing?
Just recently I received an email from the guy. He started it with his usual ranting and raving about something or another and said how his Rich Jerk book was going to be going the way of the dinosaur. This alone was quite a shock to me. I never thought the day would come that he would stop selling it. I was intrigued. So I kept reading.
Then he went on about how these guys were really messing with his business and that he was really going to let them have it. I’m sure you know all about this. The emails that went back and forth between these guys were just priceless. I’m sure it was all put on but it was great entertainment. I was really enjoying this.
Finally, he said that he’d had it with all the garbage that’s out there and people deserve to have exactly what they want in a package. This is where he made his pitch. He said that he wanted ME to help him put his next book together.
I almost fell off my chair.
His instructions were clear. He wanted me to write to him in an email and tell him exactly what I wanted to see in his next book. If he liked my idea, he would ask me to write it up and submit it. If he used it, he would include a link to my site in his book.
Now, answer me honestly. Don’t you think that every person who read that email was going to run for their computer and start typing up every single idea for an ebook that they could think of?
Of course they will.
Without realizing it, these people are writing the Rich Jerk’s next book for him. This man doesn’t have to do a blessed thing. He’s probably got at least 10,000 of his customers submitting some dynamite ideas to this guy. Even if he has to brush them up a little bit, he basically has his book written all by third parties.
Pure genius, if I have to say so myself.
So, what are you going to do with your next product? You’re going to send your list an email. You’re going to ask them what they want to see in your next product update. You have to give them an incentive to do this. Think of something. Offer to put their link in your book. Make the offer one they can’t refuse.
Once again, when word gets out about what you’re doing, the competition will have really thought you’ve gone off the deep end. And they’re also going to be worried that you’ll be coming up with something that will blow them totally out of the water.
Don’t thank me for this idea. Thank the Rich Jerk.
I’m just smart enough to recognize a good idea when I see it.
