Beat Your Competition| Article #139 :3 SIGNS OF BIZ KILLING TUNNEL VISION
In this article I want to talk about something that has been destroying Internet marketers from the very early days. It's called tunnel vision and what you don't know about it can kill you. Most marketers don't even realize that they suffer from tunnel vision when it comes to their business. The reason is because they are just too close to the problem to see it for what it is. Well, hopefully, this article and these 3 signs that I am going to give you will wake you up to the fact that you indeed do have tunnel vision.
The first sign that you have tunnel vision when it comes to your business is actually a sign from the outside. This is when other people point out things about your business that you just don't see. Now, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if a number of marketers all tell you something about your business and you don't see it, then you've definitely got a case of tunnel vision. For example. Let's say 10 people all tell you that there is a serious problem with your web page, and all tell you it's the same problem. If you look at your web page and don't see it, then you definitely have tunnel vision and need to correct it before it kills your business.
The second sign that you have tunnel vision is when things for your business have either taken a turn for the worse or it's never taken off to begin with. If you look at all the aspects of your business, including web page, advertising, and so on and think to yourself that everything looks good to you, then you are without a doubt suffering from tunnel vision. If nothing is working, or worse, has stopped working, then that is a serious sign that something is very wrong. You need to open up your eyes and realize that you have a problem. Otherwise, the problem is not going to go away.
The third sign that you have tunnel vision is when you first even go into a project and make up your mind that this is the way you're going to do it and nothing can possibly go wrong. There is nothing wrong with having confidence. We all need confidence when running our business. But when that confidence gets to the point where we stop objectively looking at our business and evaluating it for what it is and not for what we think it is or is going to be, that's when we run into a lot of trouble.
Tunnel vision affects us all at some point in time. We don't want to admit that something is wrong with our business because of our pride. It's kind of like admitting that we have a sick child. But unless we can overcome that tunnel vision, we're never going to have the kind of successful business that we want.
Open up your eyes! There's a lot to see out there.
