Writing Articles| Article #173 : ARTICLE WRITING – PART 6
To make this a fair tutorial, I am going to be writing articles on subjects that I know nothing about, or very little. This way, I have to do the research. This will actually force me to practice what I preach. Hopefully, if we’re reading the same articles, we’ll come up with the same results, more or less. Obviously, our words aren’t going to be exact. They shouldn’t be. We ARE individuals and we ARE going to read things just a little differently. But the main points of the article should be very close.
Our first topic is going to be…
“Natural Treatments For IBS”
For those of you who don’t know, IBS is irritable bowel syndrome. Now remember, this isn’t an article about what IBS is, though you can briefly mention that in your article. The main focus of the article is treatment. Natural treatment. Oh, and if you DO know a lot about this subject, don’t cheat. Read the articles and get your facts together in order to write YOUR article.
Okay, I typed in “Natural Treatments For IBS” into my Google search box.
To do the same, go to www.google.com and type in “natural treatments for IBS.”
I’ll wait.
You should get about 1,730 web pages.
Okay, these are the 3 articles that I chose to read.

Read them now…I’ll wait
Okay did you notice something?
All these articles are more about what IBS is and less about the natural treatments themselves.
Why?
Because the truth of the matter is, there really aren’t that many natural treatments for IBS, at least so it seems from reading these articles. Most of what I read seems to deal with simple life style changes. Sure, there are a few specific foods and herbs and one or two rather complex home remedies (think I’ll avoid them) but for the most part, these articles are more about what IBS is and its symptoms.
So what does that tell you?
This is where experience comes in and I can’t teach you that, but I can give you some of my years of it.
When you are attempting to write articles about the treatment of, or the solution for a problem, and there is more about the problem than the solution, this means that you have to “pad” your article with more discussion about the “problem” than you normally would. Otherwise, we’re not going to have enough material for our article.
In most cases, you will find that when writing about a solution to a problem, and these are the articles that get mostly read, you will be writing more about the problem than the solution. This is fine. Just as long as you understand it.
In our next article, we’re going to start with writing the subject for our article now that we’ve finished doing our research.
See you then.
