Writing Articles(2)| Article #175 : ARTICLE WRITING – PART 8
In this installment of our continuing series on article writing, we’re going to continue with the article we started writing in our last installment. If you recall, we had written our introduction. Now we’re going to get into the meat of our article with some solid content.
Remember, we don’t have a lot of treatment information to share, so we want to focus on what IBS is for one paragraph and what causes it in another paragraph. That leaves our third paragraph for…you got it, the natural treatment.
See how easy this is when you take things one step at a time?
Okay, let’s read our 3 articles again, unless you’ve still retained all this in your mind. Remember, you can take brief notes. Just don’t use the wording from the articles in your notes or if you do, don’t use the wording of your notes in your article.
Okay, this is what I got out of the definition of what IBS is.
It’s a gastro-intestinal disorder.
Man, that doesn’t tell us much.
But…There are many symptoms of IBS mentioned. Hey, I got an idea. Let’s lead into what IBS is by starting with the symptoms.
Let’s do it in a fairly humorous way, since we started the article in a rather humorous way. (Remember the remark about the nuclear launch codes?)
Here is what I came up with for paragraph number 2.
Most people don’t really know what IBS is. Part of the reason for that is because of the many symptoms of the disease itself. If you’re wondering if you’re suffering from IBS, all you have to do is make a note of that alternating constipation and diarrhea, gas, bloating, incomplete bowel movements, and the overall feeling that your insides are doing the Tango on the Queen Mary. Most likely if you are having more than one of these symptoms, you are suffering from IBS. While modern medicine doesn’t quite know exactly what causes IBS, through research, their best guess is that the disease is mostly caused by certain patterns of eating.
Done…
Word count…111
Great we’re right on schedule.
Now what were we going to say in this paragraph?
We were going to say what IBS was.
In this case, we did it without even using the words gastro-intestinal disorder from article number 2. We just used the symptoms of the disease as the disease itself.
Then at the end, we led into what causes IBS. You always want to lead into your next paragraph from the paragraph before it.
Let me say that again so you’ve got it.
“You always want to lead into your next paragraph from the paragraph before it.”
This way, your article moves nicely from one paragraph to the next.
This is what is known as good writing and it’s not hard.
Okay, two paragraphs down…
Two to go.
