Writing Articles(2)| Article #181 : ARTICLE WRITING – PART 14
Okay, we’ve reached that point in our series where we are now going to break off in two directions. You can either choose to write for pay or write for traffic, or if you’re ambitious, do both.
Writing For Pay is when you write your articles and you decide you are going to look for places online who would be willing to buy them from you.
Now, let me explain something very important so you understand what you are giving up if you write for pay.
NOBODY WILL SEE YOUR WEB PAGE.
Why? Because when you sell somebody your article, they are going to use their OWN resource box. They become the author. You are simply a ghost writer. You’re not allowed to put links to your site ANYWHERE in the article, so don’t even try it.
So unless you plan to do a lot of writing, you aren’t going to make a ton of money doing this.
The upside to this is that it IS paid work. You don’t have to worry about people going to your web page and buy your product to make a sale. You get paid upon delivery of your article. Most companies pay between 7 and 14 days.
There are also freelancing jobs on the Internet. In other words, individual people who actually hire writers for projects. Some of these projects pay very well. Others, not so well. You’ll have to decide which projects you’ll take and which ones you’ll pass on.
Then of course there are projects that you bid on. This is where somebody will post a writing offer at a place like Elance.com and the lowest bidder usually gets the contract, though not always. You probably don’t want to get into these bidding wars because what you end up taking the project for won’t be worth it.
Writing For Traffic is a whole new ball of wax. This is basically where you submit your articles to directories, put them on your web page or blog, and promote them in an attempt to get people to come to your web page and buy your products.
The upside of this is that if you do effective Internet promotion, which I’ll be teaching you later in this book, you can get quite a few people to your site and make quite a few sales. The reason is because you CAN use your own resource box and bio when submitting to directories.
The downside to this is that there are no guarantees. People may not like your articles. Or, they may like them but just not enough to go to your site. Or, your article gave them too much info so they felt they didn’t need to go to your site.
This is why personally, I do both. This way I know I’ll make some money and at the same time, have a chance to make more.
