Writing Advertisements| Article #194 : ADVANCED AD WRITING – PART 6
In this installment of our series on advanced ad writing, we’re going to focus on the very end of our ad, the last paragraph. You’ve presented all the facts, told them the solution, given them the bonuses, testimonials and what have you, and now it’s time to seal the deal. This is the hardest part of any email ad campaign.
The Personal Approach
I hope I’ve given you enough information to make an informed decision. I know how difficult it is to know just what to believe, so if you have any questions at all, please feel free to call me at the number in my signature. I promise to answer all your questions as best as I can. What I don’t know the answer to, I’ll find out. You may not like all the answers I have, but at least you know they will be the truth.
I just want you to know that it really is possible to make a living on the Internet. All you need is an education and someone to help you.
I can do both, if you’ll let me.
Wishing you the success that you TRULY deserve,
Steven Wagenheim
There you have it. The whole ad is now complete. Very professional and even toned all the way from beginning to end. Now let’s see what happens when we take the same ad and close it using the “in your face” approach.
The In Your Face Approach
Well, I don’t know whether anything I’ve said has made a dent in your brain or not. As I said, I can’t worry about it. I have a family to take care of and a $1700 a month mortgage to pay for so I can’t be fretting about somebody who is insistent on posting stupid worthless ads and wasting their time on advertising methods that don’t work. I’ve given you the tools to drag yourself up out of the mud. It’s now up to you to use them. Either you will, or you won’t. That choice is YOURS. If you want my help, you’ve got it. But don’t expect me to do the work for you. Nobody said this was going to be easy, but if you at least get the education you need, you’ve got a shot. That’s all I can promise you, is a shot. If you want to ask me questions, you’ve got my number. I’m not going to come running after you.
Ultimately, YOU have to decide if you really WANT to succeed.
It’s up to you to make the right decision.
SUCCESS or FAILURE
It’s YOUR call
There you have it.
Now, let me show you a subtle thing about tone or voice.
See this line?
It’s up to you to make the right decision.
If I had written it like THIS:
Here’s hoping you make the right decision.
It doesn’t fit. Can you see why? It’s because saying that I hope they make the right decision shows I care and some compassion. It doesn’t fit with the in-your-face-I-don’t-care tone of the ad.
One line can make all the difference in the world.
