Sales Copy| Article #197 : SALES PAGE SALES COPY – PART 2

In this installment of our series in sales page sales copy, we’re going to focus our attention on what I call “The Hook.”

The hook is…

"I Guarantee This Site Will Flood YOUR Bank Account With Avalanches Of Instant Cash Automatically...Even If You Have No Website, Product Or Email List Now!"

Quite a statement, wouldn’t you say? You can have no website, product or email list and still, right now, this site will flood your bank account with avalanches of instant cash automatically.

Now, I can tell you from personal experience that it isn’t that easy. I wish. But that’s another story and not the point of this article. The point is, this kind of hook, though it is one that I won’t even personally use, works and works in spades. When people see something like this hook, their eyes light up and the dollar signs start spinning around in their head. That’s the mark of a great hook. In email advertising, that hook is your subject. But here, we have an advantage over email advertising.

Remember when I said in an earlier article that with email advertising you have to use subjects that are short and to the point because nobody is going to read long ones? Well, you don’t have that problem with sales pages. With a sales page, you can get a little wordy if you want. Think about the above hook. It’s 26 words. If you tried to send an email ad with a 26 word subject, there is no way that anybody would read it, let alone see the whole thing anyway since most email programs only show you so much of your subject.

The hook of your sales page copy may very well be the most important part of the whole page. Why? Because if the hook doesn’t grab the reader, and I mean REALLY grab the reader, they’re not going to read beyond that hook.

So when you tell people that they can make money NOW, even though they have no product, no site and no list, that is certainly going to get their attention.

Writing a killer hook like this doesn’t come overnight. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of testing to come up with a hook that gets people to work their way down to what comes next and ultimately buy your product. But people are doing it everyday.
