Google Slap| Article #221 : GOOGLE SLAP – PART 5

In this installment of our series on the Google Slap, we’re going to focus on the landing page itself, now that we’ve squared away what the rest of the website needs to consist of. If you need to reinforce those points, please refer back to earlier articles in this series.

Okay, so we’re ready to put together our landing page for our potential customers to come to. How do we do this?

This part is actually very simple so keep it that way. When you create your Adwords ads, you need to designate what keywords these ads are going to use. Well, whatever keywords you use in your ads, you need to use these same keywords on your landing page. But you can’t just throw them on the page. It has to be done cleverly.

The easy part of this is in your keyword meta tag. All you do here is simply list every keyword that you’ll be using in your Adwords ads and make sure that they appear in the keyword meta tag of that page. But that’s just the first step.

The second step is the actual landing page content. In most cases this will probably be a sales page.  If you take a look at most sales pages, they’re pretty long. This is a good thing as it gives you plenty of opportunity to include all the keywords that you’re using for your Adwords ads in the sales copy itself. If you’re not a pro at making sales pages, let an expert do it for you because you want to get this part right.

Now, if you’ve already made your landing page then you simply do this in reverse. Whatever keywords you have in your keyword meta tag, simply take those keywords and use them for your Google Adwords ads. Just make sure that the keywords you’re using are relevant to the site itself.

What this will ultimately do is the following:

For starters, this will give Google exactly what they want, which is a good user experience. In turn, this will lower your cost per click. Once your cost per click goes down, you start to get more impressions for your ad.

Why?

Because while other people are spending more money on their CPC and running out of money to spend earlier in the day, your ads will still be running.  As the day goes on, you’ll get more impressions and more clicks. Ultimately, this will increase conversions as well because you are giving the user the experience that they’re looking for.

If you’re sitting there right now thinking that this is so easy, it is. If you’re wondering why then more people don’t do it, the answer is out of pure laziness. They don’t want to take the time to put up a relevant site. They just want to put up the same tired affiliate page that everybody else is putting up. Anything more than that is too much work for them.

In our next article in this series, we’ll go over what you’ll need to do if you’ve already been Google slapped.
