Making A Plan | Article #255 :ADVANCED GAME PLAN 2 – PART 1

In this series, we’re going to concentrate less on the product itself and its creation and more on what I call a coordinated marketing plan. As I keep trying to tell people, it doesn’t matter how good your product is. If you don’t have a solid marketing plan, nobody is going to know your product exists. Hopefully, this series will give you a powerful marketing plan that you will be able to use for any product regardless of what it is.

We’re going to make a few assumptions before we even get into our coordinated marketing plan.

The first assumption is that the product itself, regardless of whether it is an ebook or software, is completed and out of beta. We’re also going to assume that the sales page is complete and you have your domain and web hosting all set to go. We’re also going to assume that you already have the product registered with some affiliate program. So the only thing that we have left to do is simply get the word out about our new product.

This game plan involves what I call using the “reverse funnel approach” to marketing.

If you look at a funnel, the kind you use for putting oil in your car, you will notice that you place the narrow end of the funnel into the hole leading to where the oil goes into your engine and the wide end is where you pour the oil. So the end closest to you is the wide end. Well, the reverse funnel approach to marketing involves having the narrow end closer to you. How does this translate into English as far as how we will go about marketing our product?

With reverse funnel marketing, we are going to contact the fewer number of people first. Why do we do this? Because we want to maximize our results with as little work as possible at the beginning. By contacting just a few people, our hopes are that these few people will generate massive sales for us.

The way this works is simple. We go through our list of contacts. Hopefully, on that list are some people who are very influential in the marketing world and have large lists themselves. Naturally, the longer you’ve been doing this, the easier it is going to be to find people who will be willing to promote your product for you. Naturally, offering them a nice hefty commission percentage will help in giving them incentive to do this. Also, offer them a free copy of your product.

If this part of our plan actually works, the number of potential customers that these few people will reach can be massive and you may not have to do a lot after this. That’s why I so like the reverse funnel approach. Just write a few nicely worded letters and see what happens.

In our next installment, we’re going to work our way up the funnel.

See you then.
