Making A Plan | Article #256 :ADVANCED GAME PLAN 2 – PART 2
In our last installment of this series, we began what I call the reverse funnel approach to marketing by contacting just a few highly influential people to start promoting our product for us. In this installment, we’re going to expand our funnel slightly.
The next thing we’re going to do is write some more letters to site owners who are in our niche but not in competition with us. We’re going to ask them for a link exchange. Also offer them the same generous affiliate commissions that you did when you contacted your influential list. This will give them incentive to not only put up your link but actively promote your product themselves. Of course offer to send them your product for free.
You’ll probably want to contact at least 10 to 20 sites to start. Hopefully, you’ll get okay’s from half of them. If these sites have decent traffic, your product will be seen by quite a few people in a very short period of time.
The next step is to take out a few solo e-zine ads. You want to target about 5 or 6 e-zines to start. Because e-zine advertising is so iffy these days, you want to choose e-zines that have large subscriber bases. This will give you the most return for your money. E-zine ads aren’t cheap, so you want to get the most you can out of each ad. The only way to do that is by taking out solo ads with large e-zines.
The next step is to put up your own blog. After you’ve done this, you want to start writing articles and posting them to article directories like E-zine Articles. You want to try to write at least an article a day for a month. This will slowly start to build up traffic to your blog, where you will have an in depth review of your new product and of course a link so that they can purchase it.
We’re now starting to get into the wider part of our funnel. This is where we will start to do things that are going to reach massive amounts of people. Unfortunately, these methods are not as targeted and not as effective. So ultimately, you’re not going to get many more sales than you did from the methods that you’ve used up until this point. This is why I suggest using the reverse funnel method of promotion as it takes the least amount of effort at the start and produces the best results.
The back end of the funnel is what many marketers call the shotgun approach. They feel that by simply throwing your ad at millions of people, you’ll get a few hits and sales. This is actually quite true. I use the shotgun approach everyday. My sales aren’t off the charts from using this method but I do get enough sales on a monthly basis to justify using it.
In our next installment, we’ll move on to the shotgun part of this system and show you how to get the most out of it.
See you then.
