Butterfly Marketing | Article #260 :BUTTERFLY MARKETING – PART 2

In this installment of Butterfly Marketing, we’re going to discuss the basics of the pre-launch phase, which may just be the most important part of the whole process.

The reason the pre-launch phase is so important is because very few people use it. They’ll put their latest product together, put up their sales page and start promoting. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as you can certainly make sales this way, it’s not the best way to go about it. It’s better if you put the launch of your product off just a bit. Why?

Imagine you have a product that you want to release and instead of putting up a sales page that explains the whole product and then at the end says “click here to buy” you instead put out a page that says “coming soon.” Give people just a taste of what it is. Give them the high points but don’t go into a lot of detail. Maybe at the very beginning don’t go into any detail at all. Just say “coming soon…” and then the name of the product. You don’t think this is going to have people wondering what’s going on?

And then maybe after the first week or so, you can begin to include some details. Not a lot. Just enough to wet people’s appetites. This is called “creating a buzz” and it works. If you think not, do you have any idea how many products and services have massive launches because of that buzz?

Look at what movies do. They put out trailers for these movies months before they’re due to come out. They get people talking about the movies before the movie is even completed. Then, when the movie is finally released, the first day’s crowds are through the roof. Most ticket sales for any movie come in that first weekend. That’s all because of the buzz that’s created beforehand.

So the first step of Butterfly Marketing is to create that buzz in the pre-launch. How this happens, well, that’s a complicated process that Mike Filsaime, who created the concept, has down to a science. He can pretty much do this in his sleep now. Is it a lot of work? Yes.
In the next article this series, we’ll go into some specifics on how to create this “buzz” during the pre-launch. There are quite a few steps and we’re not going to discuss each one in too much detail, but only give you enough information to help you make an informed decision as to whether or not this is something you would like to tackle.

I can tell you from personal experience that the rewords of Butterfly Marketing are well worth the efforts. Money that used to take me a week to earn is now being earned in a day. It’s a wonderful feeling because once you get the process started, the viral effect just goes on and on.

See you next time with more.
