In this installment of Butterfly Marketing we’re going to go over a couple more points and then sum up. Then we’ll tell you how you can get the complete Butterfly Marketing manuscript.
In getting your affiliates to promote your site, the one thing you have to do is give them step by step instructions. You don’t want to leave anything up to them. You want to say do this, do this and do this. That’s what affiliates like. They don’t want to have to think. They just want to go out and promote.
In order to get affiliates to want to do this, you also have to focus on the “What’s In It For Me” factor or WIIFM.
Let’s face it, affiliates want to know what’s in it for them. Why should they promote YOUR product? So you have to give them incentives. One way is to give them more than 50% of the commissions. A commission percentage of 60% or even 70% will certainly motivate affiliates. This may take money out of your pocket up front, but with the extra affiliates you’ll gain because of the higher commission percentage, you’ll actually make more money in the long run.
Another thing you can do to keep the momentum going is to add products to the site or package. Maybe every 3 months or so, add a couple of items to the package. This will essentially make it a new package every few months.
Another thing you can do to keep affiliates motivated is to run monthly or semi monthly contests. Maybe offer a large cash prize to the top affiliate of 100 sales or more. You might pay them an extra 10% commission out of your pocket. This will certainly be worth it for all the extra sales you’ll get with affiliates pushing for that prize.
The next thing you want to do is keep your site in these people’s minds. Maybe one way to do that is to send out emails to people when they make sales. Remind them of the money they are making. This always keeps people motivated.
Another thing you probably want to add to your site is a One Time Offer, or OTO. This will not only increase your income but the income of your affiliates as well. If they know there is a big upsell around the corner, they’ll push even harder to make those sales. Mike goes into great detail about how to do an OTO for your site.
