Residual Income | Article #290 : CRACKING THE NICHE THAT CAN’T BE

I am writing this article in the hopes of giving somebody, just that, hope. And if I am successful, after you are done absorbing this information, you will leave with a new sense of that hope and take it with you as you go out to conquer the Internet. What am I talking about? Well, keep reading and you’ll find out.

One of the latest marketing trends, which I will go over in more detail in later articles, is Bum Marketing. The main premise of Bum Marketing is to pick a niche that is not so oversaturated and then write articles and submit them to article directories with the intent to get people to our niche sites and make some sales. Simple enough? It should be. Except I didn’t quite go in that direction in order to prove my point.

I wanted to see if Bum Marketing could still work for niches that had an enormous amount of competition. So I purposely went out and picked a niche that was an absolute killer. I choose alternative health. When I went to Google to see how many sites there are, with the quotes, I found over 1.3 million. That is a lot of sites. Then, when I went to Wordtracker, I found that there were only about 500 searches a month for that term. I think it is safe to say that I really made it almost impossible for myself to break into this niche. Well, that’s what I wanted.

The first thing I decided was that I wasn’t going to spend any money on this at all. I went to Bravenet and got myself a free website template. So I spent no money on web design. I then sat down and started writing articles. I wrote one article a day every day from the first of February on.

The site was launched the first of the month. I averaged about 7 people a day to the site the first week. I continue to write articles and submit them ONLY to E-zine Articles each day, one per day. I did no other advertising. I didn’t even put my site up on a blog.  I didn’t even tell my list about it. I wanted this to be a totally from scratch idea and make it as difficult as possible.

By the last week of February, I was averaging about 30 visitors a day and had made 3 sales totaling about $60 and change. Now, since I had spent no money on any advertising, that $60 was pure profit. All it took was about 30 minutes of my time each day to write an article and submit it.

Okay, now granted, these aren’t knock ‘em out of the ball park stats. But remember, I tackled a niche that I had no business going near. Yet, I was able to get something out of it.

What’s my point? It’s this. If you take the time to research your keywords and find those long tail ones that don’t have a lot of competition, you should do very well with Bum Marketing. If I can do what I’ve done against all the odds, then certainly by using common sense and finding those good niches, you should be able to do quite nicely.
