Testing & Tracking | Article #296 : TESTING AND TRACKING – PART 3
In our last installment of testing and tracking, we listed the first 10 items of our sales page that are important for the purposes of testing and tracking. In this installment, we’re going to cover the next 10 items before we actually dive into this in detail.
Guarantee – This is another hot item right up there with the price. Many affiliate programs like Clickbank even require you to have a guarantee. But if you’re using your own affiliate script, then this is an option. Therefore it becomes a test option.
Immediate Back End Sale – Or what’s today known as the One Time Offer or OTO. These things are becoming very big today. Part of testing your OTO is also testing the price of the OTO. So this is where things get a little complicated.
Bonus Items – If you go to most sales pages today, you will notice that almost all of them offer one or more bonus items to go along with the main product that is being sold. You can test to see if adding or removing this makes a difference in your conversions.
New Market Position – This involves actually taking your offer and making the offer available to a totally different market to see how it sells. Usually you will see some drastic changes when you do this.
Alternative Colors And Graphics – This involves changing the artistic look of your page. Maybe change the background color from white to black. The number of variables of this one thing alone can be mind boggling.
Readability – This has to do with how readable your sales copy is. This involves the font size, style, layout and a number of other factors. Sometimes just changing font size will put your site in a whole new light.
Testimonials – This is another big one. Having people endorse your product gives you a lot of credibility. Testing whether to include these or leave them out should yield interesting results.
Header Graphic – This is usually the first thing that your visitors see and you want it to really capture their eye. Sometimes just changing the graphic can make a big difference in your conversions if the graphic is compelling enough.
Order Form – This is another big thing. You want the order form to be as easy to understand as possible and also compelling enough that it’s impossible to ignore. When visitors see your order form, they should be ready to pull out their credit card and buy. Sometimes the wrong order form can kill a sale.
Payment Process – This can make or break a sale so easily. If the payment process is confusing, people will be tempted to just leave the page without making their purchase.
There you have it. That’s my top 20. In our next installment we’re going to start to try to make sense of all this and how to actually go about making small changes and testing our sales page.
