Social Bookmarking | Article #304 : SOCIAL BOOK MARKING – PART 4

In this installment of social book marking, we’re going to cover some more social book marking sites. Hopefully, somewhere in this series, you’ll find the social book marking site or sites that will take your business to the next level. The right site can do just that.

Sometimes it pays to jump on something when it’s new. If you’re one of the pioneers of a social book marking site, people will get to know you real fast. Well, one of the newer sites out there is a site called Newnooze, which is kind of like a Digg clone, except where Digg is basically a technology site, Newnooze has bookmarks on just about every subject you can think of.

When you first go to Newnooze, it’s easy to be overwhelmed at first. There is a lot there. The first thing you will probably notice is the popular categories list. Some of the top ones are work at home and Internet business. If that’s what you’re into, which I assume it is since you’re reading this, then this is the place you want to be.

The site is new and isn’t quite operational at this time. But if you go there, you can get a decent idea of what you can expect to find once it gets going.

Another pretty popular site that’s rising fast is http://de.lirio.us/. If you go there, the first things you’ll see are the most recent bookmarks. So you’re going to have to bookmark often if you want to keep yourself on the first page, as there are only about 10 or so bookmarks on each page. As of this writing, there are almost 1200 pages at this site.  There is no search function at this site, which is pretty annoying, but they do have a sort by date, title and URL function, which I guess helps a bit.

What you will find at De.lirio.us is that at the bottom of each bookmark, which usually comes with a nice lengthy description, you will find related keywords to other areas of the site based on the bookmarked site. This is a great way to get your bookmarks cross referenced.

Another big site is Blogmarks.net. This site is also a book marking site where just about everything goes. It has a fairly high Alexa rank and a PR of 6 so you can get a decent amount of traffic from this site.

The first thing you’ll find when you get to Blogmarks.net is what they call public marks. The range of categories is all over the place.  Currently there are public marks for design sites, news sites, you name it.

The site, in all honesty, is ugly as sin. However, it is climbing in popularity, so don’t rule it out from your social book marking scene.

In our next installment of this series, we’re going to shift our focus and attention to some social book marking tools to help you with your social book marking. These tools are all the rage and there are plenty of them.

See you then.
