Reviewing| Article #334 : THE COLOR OF PEOPLE – PART 1
No, I’m not talking about whether somebody is black or white. I’m talking about the color of their personality. If this is a foreign concept to you, learn it quickly, because unless you are able to tell people’s color, you won’t be able to sell to them. So in this article we’re going to cover the basic colors of people, or prospects.
Yellow – Yellows are the givers. They give to everybody. These are probably the most caring people in the world. Many doctors and nurses are yellows, especially nurses, as they are so terribly underpaid. Yellows make up about 35% of our population. Thank goodness for that.
Blue – People who are blues are not sad. They are just the opposite. They just want to have fun. Blues are the life of the party and are partying most of the time. Work is a dirty four letter word to a blue. Don’t even mention the word around them. They’ll jump from one program to another without blinking an eye. They’re always looking for that big kill. About 15% of the population is made up of blues. Thank goodness it’s not more or nothing would get done.
Green – Green people believe that they are the smartest people in the world. They feel that they can figure out anything and do anything. Greens want ALL the details of your program. Don’t leave anything out or you’ll regret it. Also, don’t try to sell to a green. Just give them the facts and let them decide. Believe it or not, greens make up about 35% of the population. Bet you didn’t know that this world was made up of so many smart people.
Red – Red people are motivated by money, period. Just tell them how much they are going to make. If you don’t give them something worth while to shoot for, you won’t get a red. It’s that simple. So don’t sit down and talk to them about your family or your kid who just got named valedictorian. The red couldn’t care less. Reds make up the remaining 15% of the population.
Now, having said all this, not everybody is all one color. Each person has dominant characteristics, but there is a little bit of every color in everybody, even if just a little bit.
So, in other words, if you looked at somebody like Donald Trump, he might have a distribution of Red – 70%, Green – 20%, Blue – 5% and Yellow – 5%. Of course I could be a little off in there someplace, but I think it’s safe to say that money is the ruling thing in his life. Also, I am sure he considers himself very smart to having made all that money. Reds and Greens usually go hand in hand for some reason.
So, now that we understand that the world is made up of all these colors and that each person is different and has a mix of colors, how do we get these people to work for us and more importantly, what kind of mix of people do we really want to have in our organization?
In our next installment, we’ll go a little more in depth on this subject to wrap up this volume.
See you then.
