Warrior Forum| Article #340 : WARRIOR FORUM – PART 5
In this installment of the Warrior Forum, we’re going to cover some things that you might want to know. The Warrior Forum is a huge place and there is a lot that goes on there. So knowing your way around, while important, is just the start. Knowing what to do, is even more important. Hopefully, after reading this article, you’ll have a pretty decent idea of how to handle yourself while there.
Let’s start with the main discussion. This is where you are going to spend most of your time. When you first get there, don’t start posting right away. Look around and do some reading of posts. Especially read some of the informative posts. After you’ve been there a day or so, make your first post introducing yourself. Conduct yourself professionally and courteously. Do not post anything that even closely resembles an ad, EVER. I don’t care if you’ve just come up with the greatest program ever made. If it’s your own program, simply put it in a link in your signature.
As you spend more time at the forum, ask questions about things you don’t know. The members will be glad to help you out. Just make sure that before you ask your questions that you use the search function to find out if your question has already been asked and answered. The Warriors have this thing about people asking the same questions over and over without first looking to see if the question has already been asked and answered.
Gradually, as you’ve spent more time at the forum, you will begin to be accepted as one of their own as long as you mind your p’s and q’s. Don’t rock the boat! Don’t post topics of controversy! Don’t insult other members, especially not the older members! They will eat you alive. Again, don’t EVER post an ad. This will not alone get you hated by the members but will have you banned from the forum altogether.
The main Warrior discussion is a vast place. Threads get old very fast there. A topic that was posted yesterday could be on page 10 the next day. Because of this, don’t bring up old threads. This is also frowned on by the moderators and will bring you a lot of grief. What’s an old thread? Good question. Because threads get buried so fast, your safe if you simply stick to threads that have been posted the last 2 or 3 days tops. If you post to a thread that was posted 3 months ago, you will certainly get a stern warning from the moderators.
One other thing that you NEVER do at the Warrior Forum is complain about one of your posts being deleted. The moderators have a very tough job keeping up with the spam and unwanted posts. If they’ve deleted your post, there was a reason for it. Leave it at that. Don’t post a thread with a topic “Why Was My Post Deleted?” For one thing, you won’t get any answers from the moderators and the members will only be guessing as far as the reasons. Honestly, they just don’t know.
The main warrior discussion is where you will basically live and die. If you follow the rules, don’t post things you’re not supposed to, don’t argue with other members and contribute good information to the forum, you’ll find that you will be accepted by the majority of the members there.
You’ll never please everybody.
In our next installment, we’re going to give you some tips on how to handle the WSO part of the forum.
See you then.
