Resale Rights & PLR| Article # 49 : WHICH RESALE RIGHTS TO CREATE OR BUY

Well, now you know just about everything you need to know about resale rights packages, from basic resale rights all the way to the granddaddy of them all, Private Label Rights. Now the question is, which one of these are you going to pursue, either through purchasing for resale or creating your own package? As you may have guessed, it's not an easy decision, as each package has it's pluses and minuses. So, in order to help you make your decision, we're going to point out some of the good and bad of each package. So sit back and relax, because this is going to take a while.
With your basic resale rights package you pretty much are acting as an affiliate and that's all. You can't change the package in any way. All you can do is sell it. That's it.
The pros to this kind of package are many.
For starters, you don't have to worry about setting up a web site. In most cases with simple resale rights, the owner of the product will give you your own web site to sell the product with. In the case of Clickbank products, you just plug in the URL of the hoplink and you're done. After that, it's just a matter of promotion.
Another benefit of basic resale rights is that you don't have to worry about supporting the product. If a buyer has a question about the product that you can't answer, just have them write to the owner. Naturally, you try to help them as much as you can, but if it's a matter that is out of your control or something you have limited or no knowledge of, just forward the problem to the owner of the product.
Another benefit of most resale rights packages is that in order to be an affiliate for them, you don't have to buy them yourself. Sure, it helps if you did so you could know what you're talking about, but this isn't a requirement. You can just sign up to be an affiliate and earn commissions from the sale without having to shell out any money for them.
The cons to this kind of package are just as many.
Because you don't have to set up your own site and get a sales page supplied by the owner, you basically blend in with everybody else. When somebody sees your page, it is virtually the same as everybody else's. You don't stand out in the crowd. In a saturated market, this sometimes makes it very hard to get sales. Plus, if the affiliate program works on a cookie based system, many times you'll end up losing a sale because some users don't have cookies enabled in their browser.
Another problem with basic resale rights packages is that because you don't have to support the product, that means you also have no control over any changes to the product. If the owner makes a change that adversely affects conversion percentage, you are going to suffer and that is totally out of your control.
Also, because you are an affiliate of this product, the price that the owner charges is out of your control as well. Just recently the Rich Jerk lowered his book price from $47 to $9. This really hurt affiliates big time. So you need to keep this in mind when promoting a basic resale rights package.
What about a Master Resale Rights package? What are the pros and cons to that?
The pros to a Master Resale Rights package are as follows:
For starters, you can usually sell the package for whatever you like, unless it is specifically stated in the rights that the package cannot be given away and the price cannot be changed. In most cases they will allow price changes but not allow you to give the product away for nothing. In this way, you can lower the price to a point where you are undercutting your competition.
Another good thing is that you get your own sales page that you can change to fit the new price. So this page will somewhat stand out from a basic rights package as you'll have your own domain and also be able to make modifications to the sales page as you see fit.
Also, with these packages, you don't have to worry about affiliate commissions. You make your money from direct sales of the package either to your PayPal account, private merchant account or whatever payment processor you want to use. This way you don't have to worry about the vendor changing the price or commission percentage on you in a flash.
The cons of MRR packages are not too many but they exist.
For one thing, because this is something that basically becomes your product to distribute, you do have to set up your own site. This means getting a domain and web hosting which is an expense that you don't have with regular resale rights.
Another thing you have to understand is that as the distributor, you are now responsible for this product to everybody who you sell it to. Which means you have to answer all support questions and are also responsible for all refunds. It's more of a headache when you're responsible for MRR packages.
What about PLR packages?
I'm going to make this short and to the point.
The pros of PLR packages?
You can virtually do whatever you want with them.
The cons of PLR packages?
You can virtually do whatever you want with them.
If this sounds like double talk, it's not. You need to understand, with most PLR packages, you are getting a product that the creator basically says you can do anything you like with it, from changing the content to the name to the price to whatever. That's a lot of flexibility.
It's also a lot of responsibility. You can literally destroy a good PLR product by what you do to it. And, if you are creating it from scratch, it may turn out to be garbage right out of the starting gate.
On the plus side though, you may end up creating something that takes the Internet by storm. If you do, be prepared for the support nightmares that are to follow. You will have to handle the headaches of every person you sold this package to. And if it involves technical things like scripts or software, that's when you really find out what the meaning of "nightmare" is.
So there you have it. The good and bad of all resale rights packages. Hopefully from this little review you'll be able to decide which resale rights package is just right for you.

The above is not an affiliate link. David is a good friend of mine and he runs a top notch operation. He has bent over backwards to make me happy and I know you will be pleased with what you see there. The place is a virtual gold mine.
